LUBBOCK, Texas – Frenship ISD scored a B as announced Wednesday morning in the Texas Education Agency’s new letter-grade system of assessing school districts in Texas.

Frenship scored 89 out of 100 overall; 89 in student achievement; 82 in school progress and 89 for closing the gaps.

Lubbock-Cooper ISD scored a B as well.  LCISD scored 84 overall; 84 for student achievement; 85 for school progress; and 81 for closing the gaps.

Lubbock ISD scored a C.  LISD scored 77 overall; 73 for student achievement; 78 for school progress; and 74 for closing the gaps.

According to the TEA website, “Student Achievement shows how much students know and are able to do at the end of the school year.”

“School Progress shows how students perform over time and how that growth compares to similar schools,” TEA said. “The Closing the Gaps domain tells us how well different populations of students in a district are performing.”

Lubbock-Cooper this week blasted the new A-F grade system for Texas school districts.

“This rating will not be a measurement of the hard work our students and teachers put in all year long, but an analysis of a once-per-year test score,” LCISD said on Monday.

“It will fail to determine academic success, instead gauging the economic status of our students. It will not accompany any encouragement or suggestion for improvement, but will potentially label our campuses, neighborhoods, and community as lacking,” LCISD also said.
