A teacher’s union is disappointed Texas has punted on coming up with reopening plans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, TEA Commissioner Mike Morath announced there will be classes in person, but it’s delayed final guidance for districts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A draft document on the TEA’s website<\/a> shows the state will largely be “hands off” on student safety, imposing few mandatory requirements. A statement issued by the TEA indicates it’s still accepting feedback on that draft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Texas American Federation of Teachers wants Texas to release the billion dollars it’s holding onto for districts. Otherwise, there’s not enough money to plan with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frenship and Lubbock ISD’s first day of school is August 17. Lubbock ISD<\/a> Superintendent Kathy Rollo told parents yesterday the district will announce it’s reopening plan in the next two weeks. Lubbock Cooper ISD has set its start date for two days later. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
